Isle Royale National Park

This is one of the least visited National Parks, but also one of the most frequently returned to parks.  The ranger told us this fun fact when we departed our boat to access the island in the middle of Lake Superior.  It was a 2 hour drive in the boat from Grand Portage, MN.  You can also access it by boat from Houghton, MI or Copper Harbor, MI but it will be a much longer boat ride.  The final option is to boat a private sea plane ride to the island.  It doesn't matter how you get there, you won't regret this sacred and wild island.  We can't wait to go back when our kids are older to hike from the east side of the island to the west.  We desperately want to spot some of the famous moose that live here.
