Things I would Differently on a Return Visit...
-Stay in Cloudcroft, New Mexico instead of Alamogordo.  Much better climate in the mountains, with more activities to do with kids.  
-Book lodging EARLY for Chisos Basin.  This was by far the coolest part of Big Bend National Park, and the only lodging available in the park (besides camping).  
-Look into the hikes at Guadalupe Mountains National Park better.  They were very dry, and extra water would have been good too. 
-Arrive early to Carlsbad Caverns.  They close the elevator early, and we felt very rushed to get through the caves with our timed-entry ticket.  
-Get your entry ticket to Carlsbad Caverns early!  
-Check the swimming holes, and which ones are open during the year and on what days.  Also check for drought conditions and closures.  
-Get a reservation ticket early for Hamilton Pool on the weekends!  They sell out fast.  
-Magnolia Markets are closed on Sunday.  We learned this the hard way.
