Who We Are
I am Shannon, a teacher, mom, wanderer; just trying to show my kids the world. My husband and I used to roadtrip across America when we were in college, and then life got busy and we lost the time for it. It was right around 2019 that we started to get back out and travel more with our two kids. Our last trip was to Vegas in February 2020...then the pandemic happened and grounded us. We had two trips planned for 2020, which came to a screeching halt. However, with our time at home, we discovered several things.
Pandemic Lessons:
1. Our family needs to find a balance of inside and outside time.
2. Hiking is good not only for our family's physical health, but also our mental health.
3. We live in a beautiful part of Wisconsin with unique places to explore.
4. The Midwest has some hidden gems when it comes to outdoor activities.
5. Quiet days at home can be just as challenging as days on the road.
6. If you are thinking about taking the trip, do it!
7. We are not for everyone.
8. Sometimes it is better to travel or do activities in smaller groups, than the whole family.
9. Our family was not done growing, and we welcomed our final baby the summer of 2021!
10. I do not need to be afraid to be a solo-mom traveling with her kids.

Fast Forward to Now
It has been a couple of years since we isolated in our homes. I have survived teaching middle schoolers in a hybrid model, in masks, and overcoming COVID itself. It was a time for reflection and re-prioritizing. I decided it was time to explore the outdoors and one of my goals became getting my kids to all 63 National Parks. So, I started planning (as teachers do); and the last couple of years we have been busy exploring our local destinations in Wisconsin and different parts of the country - with more plans in the works. I do not know everything there is about traveling with kids, but I thought I would share what I have learned along the way. I hope it helps you discover something new too! Here we go!
