Thordarson Loop Trail This 6 mile loop will take you around the entire Rock Island. It is a moderate trail, but easy to follow. Along the way you see beautiful outlooks over Lake Michigan, a lighthouse (offers tours), and the magnificent boat house on the island. This hike requires two ferry rides, so plan accordingly. There is a fee for the Washington Island Ferry (about $50 round trip) and then another fee to ride the Rock Island Ferry (about $15/adult, $6/child 6-11, 5 and under free). Bring water to the island! There is one place to fill water bottle and use bathrooms, but facilities are limited once you begin your hike. The best time to do this hike is in the summer or fall. Make sure to go inside the boathouse and see the beautiful architecture! It is not something I will forget soon.

Schmeeckle Lake Loop Walking along this easy 2 mile lake hike, offers many different views and ecosystems. The lake loop starts at a beautiful visitor center, and then heads towards a prairie. Next you walk along the lake. This part of the hike borders UW-Stevens Point and seems busier than other areas of the reserve. The hike ended walking the boardwalks through a forest area, where we saw some deer that let us get closer than we have typically been able to get to deer. This hike is open year-round, and would be easy to use at any point. There are no animals allowed in the reserve. Address: 2419 N Point Drive Stevens Point, WI 54481
